Red Light District Goes Green!!

Apparently, to help business during this economic downtime, one brothel in Berlin, Germany is offering a discount for riding your bike to their business.  That’s right, if you pedal up to their door or show proof of public transit–you get %10 off of your visit.  Unfortunately, if you walked you are out of luck.

The bordellos in the capital of Germany, where prostitution is legal, have seen business suffer with the global financial crisis. Patrons have become more frugal, and there are fewer potential customers coming to the city for business trips and conferences.

But Maison d’Envie has seen its business begin to return since it began offering the $7.50 discount in July, Goetz said

“It’s very difficult to find parking around here, and this option is better for our environment,” said Thomas Goetz, who owns the brothel Maison d’Envie, or House of Desire

Running from Spoons?

As you all know, I used to own a Saab 900, and thus explained my domain name.  But a couple of months ago I sold my Saab when I bought my Mini.  And now you see the predicament I was in–how can my blog be “saabthing” when I didn’t own a Saab anymore?  So for the last couple of months I have been playing with certain names to rename my blog.

One day I thought it would be cool to have my domain named after a Beatles song title.  So I started perusing all the titles in my I-tunes library, all the while listening randomly to some Beatles songs.  That’s when I heard it, the phrase “running from spoons” in a song, and I thought to myself: “That perfect!!”

I don’t know why I liked this title so much, but it just stuck with me.  And that is why you will find me posting all future blogs on this site.

I've been Post-it'd

I came out to my car yesterday morning and found this.  I love my friends.  Surprisingly I wasn’t upset, all I could do was laugh.  Then I left a trail of post-it’s from my house to my work because I didn’t have time to take them all off.

I-25 Crash

We ran on this CRAZY accident last night.  My partner and I knew it was going to be bad when we were going down the wrong way on I-25 and did not come across any opposing traffic! (which was bizarre!!!)  Apparently a driver of a Jeep Liberty sped out of the RTD bus tunnel on Northbound I-25 going the wrong way and hit about 8 cars until it was finally damaged enough to stop.  The driver going the wrong way was pronounced on scene, but fortunately no one else was seriously injured!!.  But it closed I-25 for almost 5 hours.

Healthcare Nightmare

I’ve been pretty quiet so far regarding the new 1 trillion dollar Healthcare Bill that is being pushed through Congress by a certain few.  But the more I hear about it, the more absurd the Bill appears.  Why should we trust the same government that bankrupted Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security with what will equal one seventh of the U.S. economy?  And apparently, the public is starting to feel the same way about this Healthcare Bill as well, recently at a town hall meeting in Philadelphia, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Senator Arlen Specter got shouted down by concerned citizens who don’t want the bureaucratic system making a mess of yet another program.

And what’s this about Senators not reading the bills they’re passing?  Isn’t that their job?  To make informed decisions in the public’s stead?  How is that possible when these lawmakers don’t know what they’re voting on?  Senator Arlen Specter said that many senators divide these bills up into sections and have their staff read portions, and stated that his reasoning for this was:

We have to make judgments very fast.

I’m sorry but I read books longer than a 1000 pages, and it is possible.  Yeah it may not be fun, but that’s why we pay them that handsome salary.  That is what scares me the most, our system of government being compromised because people we elect to represent us and our interests are lazy and don’t want to read a bill, and as a result bill get passed that were written by a small group of people that don’t have the country’s best interest at heart.

Biden opens his mouth AGAIN

Really I think Vice President Joe Biden should just not talk.  You know how are parents used to say “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”?  Well, I think the same principle should be applied to Joe Biden–If you don’t have anything smart to say, stop talking.  But I think that is the problem, he likes to talk and hear himself speak and he is making a fool of himself while representing this country.  His latest gaffe was at a town hall meeting discussing the new Health Care Plan.  In talking about how are country is on the road to bankruptcy he said this:

“Now, people when I say that look at me and say, ‘What are you talking about, Joe? You’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?’” Biden said. “The answer is yes, that’s what I’m telling you.”

How does this make any sense?!?!?!  Isn’t the definition of bankruptcy when someone is completely out of money and can’t pay their bills.  So, if I were to follow this train of thought logically, like most people would, we would conclude that spending more money only gets us closer to bankruptcy.  He is a complete idiot!  He just needs to do the job Obama selected him for–Look pretty and act like you have the experience necessary to be a top executive of this country!!
